On the Prowl
2000
On the Prowl - 2000With his soulful vocals, stuttering guitar and street-funky rhythms, Walter "Wolfman" Washington is one of the most original voices on the blues scene today. Here is the best of the New Orleans guitarist's three Rounder Records albums. There are few bandleaders or bands with the tenacity to keep digging this deep, and the blues, soul and funk he plays don't get any deeper.

Funk is in the House
1998
Funk is in the House - 1998"There's nobody quite like Walter "Wolfman" Washington & his Roadmasters. Equal parts funk, soul, and gospel blues stirred with deep feeling and simmered in a special New Orleans roux, Wolfman's music pulses with imagination and joy, framed by the guitarist's exquisitely personal compositions and relentlessly propelled by the crisp punch of his skin-tight ensemble." --John Sinclair, from his liner notes Despite regular touring and an avid fan base, it's been more than six years since the release of this legendary musician's last American album. With strong new songs, inspired playing and exquisitely soulful singing, Walter has made an album that places him among them major blues/soul talents working today. Produced by Scott Billington.

Wolf at the Door
1991
Wolf at the Door - 1991"Walter "Wolfman" Washington is one of the most distinctive rhythm ì and blues guitarists and singers performing today, with a jazz ì player's ears, a blues player's attack and a gospel player's ì soul. And his band, the Roadmasters, lays down the tightest and ì most inspired grooves of any band in New Orleans today. Out of the Dark
1988
Out of the Dark - 1988Following the success of his first Rounder album, Walter "Wolfman" Washington assembled the nucleus of the band heard on his follow up. Drummer Wilbert Arnold and Walter trade jibes on "You Can Stay But the Noise Must Go," while Walter digs deep into his soul for his moving interpretation of Buddy Johnson's "Save Your Love for Me." This is one of Walter's best and most funky recordings.

Wolf Tracks

Wolf Tracks - 1986While New Orleans is known for great piano players, horn players and drummers, the city has produced only a few guitarists of renown. Walter "Wolfman" Washington is one. Here is a guitarist who has developed one of the funkiest and most expressive styles in modern r&b. His attractive deep soul voice and the album's imaginative arrangements (in collaboration with David Torkanowsky and Bill Samuel) make his first Rounder album a New Orleans r&b classic.
